1964 Corvette – Minor Tweaks Only
Chevrolet made only evolutionary changes to the Corvette in 1964. The coupe’s two piece split rear window was dropped in favor of a single piece of arched glass. The two simulated air intakes were eliminated from the hood, though their indentations remained. The decorative air-exhaust vent on the coupe’s rear pillar was made functional, but only on the left side.
The engine lineup remained the same, but HP increased in the solid lifter engines.

General Year Information – 1964 Corvette Facts
Chevrolet made only evolutionary changes to the Corvette in 1964. The coupe’s two piece split rear window was dropped in favor of a single piece of arched glass. The two simulated air intakes were eliminated from the hood, though their indentations remained. And the left-side decorative air-exhaust vent on the coupe’s rear pillar was made functional. The car’s rocker-panel trim lost a few of its ribs and had black paint inserted between those ribs, the wheel covers were simplified; and the fuel filler emblem now had concentric circles around the crossed-flags insignia. Inside, the original color-keyed steering wheel rim was now simulated walnut. A three-speed fan was installed in the coupe to aid in ventilation. Seven exterior colors were offered: Black, White, Tan, Daytona Blue, Silver Blue, Silver, and Red.
A few suspension refinements were made for 1964. The front coil springs were changed from constant-rate to progressive or variable-rate and were more tightly wound at the top, while leaf thickness of the rear transverse spring was also altered – giving a more comfortable ride. Shock absorbers were reworked as well. Also added was more sound insulation and revised body and transmission mounts. Additional bushings were added to the shift linkage and a new boot was fitted around the lever.
Drive train choices were the same but the high-performance 340 and 365 V-8s received improvements. These solid-lifter engines received a new high-lift, long-duration camshaft. The carbureted version now breathed through a Holley higher CFM four-barrel carburetor in place of the base engine’s Carter unit. The fuel injected engine gained 15 HP, now at 375 HP. The two Borg-Warner T-10 four-speeds offered in 1963 1963 were replaced by a pair built by GM.
Sales of the 1964 Sting Ray reached 22,229 – a new Corvette record, but up only slightly from 1963. Coupe volume dropped to 8,304 units, but convertible sales compensated, rising to 13,925.

The Corvette’s styling was only cleaned up removing some trim and changing the rear window. There were some subtle alterations as well not visible to the casual observer, but the two key changes were the elimination of the faux hood vents and the deletion of the split window.
The two High Performance solid Lifter engines received a new camshaft with longer duration and higher valve lift, resulting in horsepower increases from 340 in the carbureted engine to 365 and from 360 HP in the fuel injection engine to 375 HP. The 365 HP engine also received a higher CFM Holley carburetor.

The 1964 Corvette coupe sported a fastback body with a long hood and but the raised windsplit that ran the length of the roof and continued down the back on a pillar that bisected the rear window were gone. The coupe was fitted with the same basic interior as the convertible and remained similar to the previous year except for black gauges and a wood -grained steering wheel.
The 1964 Corvette convertible did not have the fastback body with a long hood and short tail. The convertible was fitted with the same basic interior as the coupe and remained similar to the previous year except for black gauges and a wood -grained steering wheel.
