About Us

We Like to Say “Get In!”

Why? Because if you’re into cars, you’ll want to take a ride with us. We are the best ride – the best resource – for the auto hobbyist, collector and restorer  you’ll ever see. We take you to the best destination – as much factual automotive information as we can find – by Brand, Make, Model, and Year.

We’re About Facts, Specs, and  “No BS”.

We base all that we write and make available to you based on documented factory information. If we tell you something, you can be sure we’ve backed it up with hard data, interviews from the past, factory published material, back in the day road tests, original brochures and even print ads. We have documentation you may never have seen  – unearthed by diligent snooping and via collections from auto historians and archivists.

So when we open the door to this ride that’s Over-Drive Magazine, when we rev the engine filled with facts, and when we grab hold of the wheel of presentations – fasten your seat belt and hang on- you’re in for the ride of your life!

What We Do

Our Site is made up of 2 key elements:

  1.  Our Library. We store restored PDF Files of Factory Brochures, back in the day Print advertising, and factory-generated specifications, as well as period magazine articles and road tests.
  2. Our Fact Sheets. Collate all bona fide information and specifications we can collect on a specific year make and model (for example, 1969 Ford Mustang) and place it in one sheet, including the Library materials we mentioned and other key information – such as hard to find parts, service manuals, body paint mixing codes. artwork – even collector car values.

We are first in factory facts!

When we speak of “collation”, there’s nothing better than taking all the factual material we find and putting it on a web page – by Brand, Make, and Model. We call these pages “Fact Sheets” and you’ll call them “GOLD”.

Road Tests are a bonafide window into how a car actually performed and how journalists viewed it. We may think a certain car was really great, but these road tests might tell otherwise. They are an excellent source.

Print Advertising helps understand how cars were marketed and sold at the time.  Advertisements often describe the most popular models which were the “halo cars” that the factory used to draw customers.

Original factory printed brochures are a window into the past. They describe available models, colors, engines, options and the like.

Many don’t know this, but the US manufactures submitted detailed specifications on each and every model they made to the American Automobile Manufacturers Association. They go into great detail and  are invaluable in determining what was appropriate for a specific car.

We’re not satisfied with just shoving documents in our Library. We take this information and build articles that detail specifications and data on engines, car models and the like.

This section is devoted to the cars owned by Over-Drive-Magazine.com readers and contributors. Some are featured on our Fact Pages, others have been submitted because readers want to share their car and their enthusiasm for the hobby. Cars are displayed by brand in random order. Take a look – consider it a virtual car show!

We create articles that put it all together for you in interesting and illuminating way. Click HERE to view the “Muscle Car Wars” of 1964-1970.

Another example – Here is a comparison of the 1960s Pontiac GTOs to the 2004-2006 version. It is found HERE.
