1966 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser Facts and Specifications
General Year Information – 1966 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser Facts
The demand for mid-size station wagons continued this year and those wanting a little more space in the mid-size arena could find it in the Vista Cruiser line. The 1966 models were slightly restyled again, with body lines similar to the full-sized 88. The Buick V-6 was replaced on Cutlass and F-85 models by Chevrolet’s CID I-6 engine, however the Vista Cruiser continued to use the 330 CID Jetfire Rocket V-8 as its base engine. This engine’s power ratings were 250 and 320 HP now with a new 310 HP 4-barrel low compression version available. Aside from the sheetmetal changes, the wagon remained much as it had been for the first two years. The 4-speed floor mounted manual transmission was still listed as available.
Historical
Sales dropped from 32,005 to 26,546, mostly in the Standard version.

For the third year in a row, the 4-speed floor shift transmission was available in the Vista Cruiser. It was fitted with the same ratios as found in the F-85 and Cutlass with the 330 CID V-8. Few were ordered.

For the first time since the early 50s, GM offered a new style 4-barrel Rochester Carburetor, named “Quadrajet”. It was defined by its huge secondary venturi – 2.25 inches!

Vista Cruiser models were 6- and 9-passenger Station Wagons.

The Custom package included the standard model’s equipment of tinted Vista roof; underfloor luggage compartment, electric windshield wipers, and self-adjusting brakes, and added DeLuxe steering wheel, padded dash, chrome window frames, and foam padded seat cushions. As with the standard model, interiors were done in either vinyl or cloth.
