1967 Dodge Dart Facts and Specifications
General Year Information – 1967 Dodge Dart
The Dart was redesigned for 1967. In addition to new styling, the cars received revised steering, a wider front track and frame rail spacing, and a redesigned K-members capable of accepting larger engines. The 1967 redesign removed all traces of the older Virgil Exner styling that proved less popular by the early 1960s. The newer body was trimmer and proved extremely popular, causing sales of the Dart to surpass compacts from Ford and GM.
The Dart for 1967 featured a rear window with compound inverse curves. This created a unique appearance at the rear of the greenhouse. Curved side glass was used for the first time on a Chrysler compact. The front fascia featured a new dual-plane contour, where the center section of the grille, bumper, and leading edge of the hood were recessed from the front plane of the car. The single headlamps were placed forward of the recessed center section. Park/turn signal lamps were set into the grille, in the corners.
With the new design, changes were made to the Dart lineup as well, beginning with the elimination of its station wagons and the base model’s “170” nameplate. The body styles remaining were the 2- and 4-door sedans, the hardtop, and the convertible. The base 170 model was now badged as “Dart”. The 270 and GT versions model lineup were unchanged for the most part. In late 1967, the “GTS” model debuted, powered by the 383 CID “B” block V-8. Its production was limited due to its late release.
The 1967 Dart, along with all other 1967 Chrysler products, got a new dual-circuit master cylinder. The dual master system also incorporated a brake system fault telltale on the dashboard. Other changes were made to comply with new federal safety laws: collapsible steering columns, additional padding on the dashboard and sun visors. Shoulder belt anchors were also provided for front outboard occupants.
The Dart Convertible was only available as a GT/GTS, and while breakout has never been clearly published, the number generally quoted is 3,729.

The 1967 Dodge Dart convertible was only available as a GT/GTS. This limited its availability as it started with a base price of $2,732 for the six and $2,860 for the V-8., almost $250 more than the hardtop ($2,400 in today’s money). Considering that the Dart was supposed to be an “economy car”, the number was considered too high by buyers. Only 3,729 convertibles were produced this year.

The 383 CID “B” big-block, rated at 280 HP was now available. However, one had to order the Dart GTS package to receive it. Another issue was that it was not available with power steering. Disc brakes were mandatory and only the Torqueflite and 4-speed were fitted. 437 were produced this year. The engine specifications can be found in the 1967 Dodge Dart AMA Specifications Sheets, HERE.
