Dodge for 1970 – Refinement
With a Little Change

Dodge styling was enhanced significantly for the Coronet line – but changed only a bit for the Charger. However, the Coronet and Charger had front and rear fascia changes. Model line changes, however, were minimal. Engine offerings remained the same. This would be the last year for a Dodge mid-size convertible until the late ’80s.

1970 Dodge Mid-Size Facts and Specifications

General Year Information – 1970 Dodge Mid-Size Car

Significant Styling Changes – but the same body
The line continued with the Coronet and Charger, with the Charger being the 2-door hardtop, semi-fastback design and the Coronet offering 2- and 4-door sedans, 2- and 4-door hardtops, station wagons, and a convertible.

The 1970 Coronet was face lifted with the addition of a completely new front fascia with a bumper comprising part of the grille. The Super Bee continued on the Coronet chassis de-contented but with the 383, 440 six-pack and the Hemi.

The 1970 Charger continued to use the same body as in 1970, with very minor trim changes, however the front bumper also encompassed the grille. A special interior and exterior trim package, called the Special Edition (S/E), was offered for both Charger 500s and Charger R/Ts. The Charger Daytona was still available with the 440 or Hemi power.

Historical
1970 was a significant year for Dodge as it was the last time a convertible would be offered in the Coronet line. Also discontinued were the sleek Charger Daytona models after only a few were made.
