1959 Cadillac Fact Sheet
1959 Cadillac Facts, Figures, and Specifications

1959 -Two Different
Designs – One Car
The total flamboyance of the 1959 Cadillac cannot be denied, and while this was the result of the new head of GM styling, Bill Mitchell, the rounded panels and plethora of chrome seemed a carry-over from Harley Earl. Regardless, there was no doubt this was a Cadillac.
General Year Information – 1959 Cadillac
In 1959 Cadillac changed the model designations. The former Series 62 line was now called the 6200 Series and was comprised of three sub-series all with similar wheelbases and lengths, each treated individually below. Fender skirts covered rear wheels. Roof lines were all new, and airy. Sedans were available in four window (4W) and six-window (6W) configurations.
Standard equipment included power brakes, power steering, automatic transmission, engine oil filter, backup lights, windshield washer and two-speed wipers, wheel discs, outside rear view mirror and inside vanity mirror. The convertible also had power windows and Two-Way power seat.
NOTE: Manufacturing of the special bodies for the Eldorado Brougham was done by Pininfarina of Turin, Italy.

Cadillac Series 6200: These five base models were identifiable by their straight body rub moldings running from front wheel openings to back bumpers with crest medallions below the tip of the spear. Plain fender skirts covered rear wheels and sedans were available in four window (4W) and six-window (6W) configurations.
Standard equipment included power brakes; power steering; automatic transmission; dual backup lamps; windshield washers and two-speed wipers; wheel discs; outside rear view mirror vanity mirror and oil filter.
Cadillac Series 6300: The DeVille models, comprised of two sedans and a coupe, had script nameplates on the rear fenders – without the use of the front fender crest medallions. They were trimmed like 6200s otherwise. The DeVilles also had all of the same standard equipment listed for 6200s plus power windows and Two-Way power seats.
Eldorado and Eldorado Brougham: The 6400 Eldorado sub-series included two 6400 models, the DeVille coupe and Biarritz convertible, and one 6900 model, the Brougham. All were characterized by a three-deck jeweled rear grille insert, but other trim and equipment features varied. The Seville and Biarritz had “Eldorado” spelled out behind the front wheel opening and featured broad, full-length body sill highlight moldings which curved over the rear fender profile and back along the upper belt line region.
Standard equipment included all items found on DeVilles plus heater, fog lamps, 345 horsepower three 2-barrel V-8, remote control deck lid, radio with antenna and rear speaker, power vent windows, Six-Way power seat, air suspension, electric door locks and license frames.
The Eldorado Brougham was now incorporated into the line though it was an Italian-bodied, limited production car. A vertical crest medallion with a “Brougham” script plate appeared on the front fenders and a single, thin molding ran from front to rear along the mid sides of the body. Styling on this car was not as radical as in the past. The standard equipment list was pared down to match those of other Eldorados plus Cruise Control, Autronic Eye, air conditioning and E-Z-Eye glass.
Series 60 Special: “Fleetwood” lettering was used on the front fenders and on the trim strip crossing the bottom of the deck lid. A rear facing, bullet-shaped, scoop-like convex panel was used on the rear doors and fenders and was trimmed by a similarly shaped body rub molding that extended to the front wheel well at the bottom and to the headlamps at the top. Pillared, six window styling was seen and a three-deck jeweled rear grille was featured. The rear wheels were skirted and wheelbase was now identical to all other Series except the ’75 Series models.
The standard equipment list included all 6200 and 6300 features plus power vent windows and dual outside mirrors.
Series 75 Fleetwood: The long wheelbase Fleetwood models were still called Series 75, although a new numerical series designation was in official use. Production models again were a nine-passenger sedan and Imperial sedan-limousine with auxiliary jump seats. “Fleetwood” lettering appeared on the rear deck lid trim strip. Single side trim moldings extended from the front wheel housing to the rear of the car.
Standard equipment included all items found on the Sixty Special Fleetwood line.
