1968 Ford Bronco – Continued refinement
for 1968
While the Bronco appeared as it had for the last few years, the most noticeable change for 1968 was the addition of side-marker lights on the front fenders and reflectors on the lower rear quarter panels.
General Year Information – 1968 Ford Bronco
The most noticeable change to Bronco for 1968 was the addition of side-marker lights on the front fenders and reflectors on the lower rear quarter panels. Minor revisions were made to the interior, in particular to the armrest, window crank knobs and door handles. A heater and defroster were now standard. Free-running front hubs and a dry-type air cleaner were also new. Among the other standard features were: Three-speed fully synchronized transmission; Mono-Beam front suspension; through-drive two-speed transfer case; 11 x 2 in. front brakes; and folding windshield.
NOTE: Engine compression rations were reduced to 8.7:1 and horsepower decreased slightly: 100 for the I-6 and 195 for the 289 CID V-8.
Historical Notes
Sales were up about 2,500 units, with the largest jump in the wagon, however Roadster sales were almost nil at 212. The Roadster safety concerns on the open doors and its lack of occupant protection had killed this model. It would not return for 1969.
