1967 Ford Fairlane – Standing Pat
The 1967 Fairlane continued to use the body introduced in 1966 with only minor trim changes. 1968 would bring a big styling revamp and a dramatic look. Big news was the availability of power front disc brakes – standard in the GT and optional for all other models.

1967 Ford Fairlane Facts and Specifications
General Year Information – 1967 Ford Fairlane
The Fairlane continued to use the body introduced in 1966 with minor trim changes. The new grille was a single aluminum stamping instead of the two grilles used in the previous model and the taillights were divided horizontally by the backup light, instead of vertically as in 1966. Other than these subtle changes the cars appeared identical.
The R-Code 427 CID V-8 was again available and only 92 copies were produced – all for drag racing professionals. though some ended up in regular owners hands.
NOTE: The station wagon and the Ranchero rode on the Falcon wheelbase but were considered Fairlanes and could be had with most Fairlane options and interiors. The factory designated the Ranchero as a truck, and as such, was not covered in the Fairlane Brochure or the AMA Fairlane Specifications Sheets.
Historical
256,931 Fairlanes were delivered in 1967, a decrease of 80,861 units. The body style was already dated and Ford was readying a totally new look for 1968.

- 289 CID V-8 Replaces 390 V-8 as Standard in GT/GTA

The 1967 Ford Fairlane R-Code was built with the 427 CID Dual 4-barrel V-8 producing 425 horsepower, featuring a four-speed manual transmission, and a fiberglass hood with a scoop. Only 92 were manufactured as two-door hardtops to qualify for drag racing. They are very rare today.

In a positive move, disc brakes became available as standard in the GT/GTA and optional cross the entire Fairlane line. what is surprising is that this option was available in the Mustang in 1965 . . . what took them so long?
In a move that caught all enthusiasts by surprise, Ford made the standard engine in the GT/GTA the 289 CID V-8, down from the much more potent 390 CID engine – especially since the new offering was the 2-barrel 200 HP version. It makes little sense, as the 500XL already occupied this space with the only difference being that HD suspension was optional in the 500XL.
